Sunflower Sutra
a sunflower sutra…identity in a commodified world…they had no idea of what he was talking about…and once he wathced himself on the video he could see their point…it seemed like he just liked listening to his voice…whatt would they know?…certianly not the reference to Ginsberg’s poem…or the Sprinkle Genies who were once big in the anti-folk movement…or the crazy wanna be intellectuals spouting away on the top of a new york city roof…landscapes of being in a world made meaningless by the fast changing pace of scenery…speaking word to give voice to meaningful identity…creating videopoems as memory to what once was now gone…in the hot neon american night drunk buying 40′s at the gas station just like i did years on the lizard streets of words forsaken like esau dancing with the empty shadow of being he killed himself took too many pills on purpose forsaking his religon his voice lives on in this video poem as does the wanna be intellectuals and the anti folk musician my words my signposts to being even when all else is gone…so the words they splash real…actually making me feel physically despite the fact they are written with no audience in mind which is a cardinal sin since how can they have any real impact without knowledge of its audience..that has been a sore point for me for many years but it’s time to get past that…after all, how could they have an audience in a culture that condones perpeutal war and more people vote for american idol than in the presidential elections…where labels rule the day…as much as I respect and love Patti Smith her praising Barrack Obama shows you just how much she doesn’t get it no matter what obama’s grand chess strategy is increasing the wars is no excuse and the hipsters who applauded patti can go back to their apathetic hipster lives not that I am any bed of roses I certainly don’t want to turn into roger and start moralizing at people and telling them how to be…so this videopoem this sunflower sutra features the old staples of rock n’ roll and poetry, two things I have loved for so many, many years…
